so, I'm getting recruited for this and that now that I'm a 4th year. One of the persons I'm talking to wants me to get paneled with various insurance companies ASAP so I can come on board with his private practice ASAP. I didn't think that was possible, but wanted to check with you good people before I explored that idea further.

I don't think it is either. But the insurance companies in question would be able to tell you for sure. You might be able to start the process, though not actually be credentialed until you are BE.

Only the insurance company will be able to tell you.

Getting panelled can be a pain in the butt. What individual insurance companes want for you to be panelled will depend on the company.

But look at it this way. It could take months to get on a panel. The paperwork in enormous. The private practice is being prudent by having you at least do your paperwork and at least trying to get panelled so you don't have dead time.

While the above answers are correct, most private practices have office managers that know how to deal with the insurance companies. You could also contact the practice and the manager and ask them.
