Hey guys,

So I'm starting to think I don't stand a chance of getting into dental school. I'm a junior and only have one more semester left before I should apply. After this semester is over, I will most likely have around a 2.97 overall GPA and a 2.5 Sci GPA. I've gotten my share of Cs in sciences.. Actually, the majority of my sciences are Cs. I started studying for the DAT couple of weeks ago and will continue to study religiously until the spring because I realize that's my last hope. I know my grades suck and I just feel like I'm too far in the hole to come out. Is there anyone who has gotten in with grades like mine?

All I can tell you is that if this is what you really want you keep trying. This is my third time applying. My GPA is a 3.14 if you go by the university and a 2.8 by the conversion. I flunked out of school my first year, took five years off got married and had a son. Then when I went back to school, I got divorced had an 8 month custody battle with my ex-in laws where they took my son from me, got remarried, had emergency gall bladder surgery , another baby, and 2 car accidents, one resulting in another sugery. That is what has gone outside of school for the last 8 years.
In school I have worked as hard as I can and still have a wonderful home life (knowing that once in Dental school my family will have to come second for four years).
I have taken the DAT's twice, the second time they improved to where I am happy with them (they are not stellar) but respectable. I have taken many more upper science classes and am currently enrolled in graduate studies. I am not giving up. I cannot see myself doing/being anything but a dentist.
This is what I am meant to do with my life, so I will keep trying until I get where I am supposed to be.
If you have that same drive and determination, then keep trying work hard study the best that you can and don't give up. Don't be discouraged by what others tell you, listen to what your heart tells you and follow it.
🙂HTH

LJGDDSII- wow, if that's all true then I'm really pulling for you. You deserve to be a dentist.

yea....much respect, LJGDDSII

Thank you very much, now if someone would just tell the addmissions committee that. LOL
And yes it is all true. The joke with my advisors and sorority sisters is what is going to happen to Lesli this semester.
BTW This semester it was daughter got chicken pox, son got strep throat, husband got hurt in the mines (all within two weeks) and I have had a cough for the last month after I got strep from my son. 🙄
