Hay, everyone! I am planning to apply to some PsyD programs later this year, for Fall 2015 admission. I have one semester of experience working in a personality and psychopathology lab. The only other experience I have is a project I did for research methods on the relationship between mental health and pubertal timing. I really want to get some more research experience. I contacted some professors at a university here to see if they would let me volunteer in their labs, but they all said no. I also tried to volunteer in several research centers, but none of them take volunteers. I even applied for a recruiting specialist position at one research center but never heard back, even after calling to follow up. So I am wondering how I can get some research experience post-graduation. I no longer live around the university I attended either. Also, I know research experience is very important to PhD programs, but how important is it to PsyD programs? I do have some clinical experience.

Why are you interested in getting research experience? That said, what PsyD programs are you interested in?

I've always heard it is vital to your application. My top choice right now is Baylor. I've also been looking at Denver, Loyola, University of Indianapolis, Loma Linda, etc.
