I was wondering if anyone knew, Does having a research position at Um (university of miami) or within the Jackson Health System... will automatically guarantee a residency interview

Maybe what you can do is try to get to know people in the program, especially people who make the decisions in who gets invited to interview, like the PD or assistant PDs, and it might also help if you publish something to show interest and dedication to a field or specialty.

There is nothing that guarantees an interview. While you may be more likely to get an interview given your proximity to the program, it is not a sure thing.

This isn't entirely true. There are programs that exist where away rotators are guaranteed an interview. In fact some programs even count your away rotation as your interview. You'd have to look into each program and each specialty to figure out which ones may count and which ones wouldn't

There are certainly many program directors out there who will extend interviews to people solely based on their proximity, connections, rotations, etc., in a program. I have no reason to think this specific program director would feel one way or another. Whether or not that interview will lead to you being seriously considered is another question.

If you are enthusiastic, punctual and hardworking on said rotation, it's as much of a guaranteed interview as you could imagine.

If you're rolling in hungover and falling asleep at the desk, I wouldn't think even an interview invite would mean anything...
