getting step 1 score

I have heard that after taking step 1, you wait a certain amount of time and then try to reapply for a retake. If it cuts you off from reapplying, that means you passed. does anyone know how this works and how much time you have to wait until you try it?

Also, what is the time frame to receive scores through the mail?

It doesn't work. I heard that this trick worked in the past, but with Fred it doesn't.
