Hello everyone, first I will give you my background. Thanks for any advice.
Stats and info:
Non-trad, late 20s,
cGPA: 3.5,
Postbacc GPA: 4.0 including upper level sciences,
MCAT: 31
ECs and background:
Founded a company and starting a non-profit
100 Hours Volunteering in the ER
400 Hours Shadowing
2 Semesters of Research with 1 publication
100 Hours Shadowing/Volunteering in Under-served Urban Clinic (PCP)
40 Hours non-clinical volunteering with a reward for outstanding service
Just starting a community health research position with a prestigious university
Caucasian, have earned enough to pay for first year of medical school with no outside help
I applied very broadly to 31 schools and have received 6 interviews.
I am concerned because the first two schools I interviewed with were the least competitive on the list. I was waitlisted by the first and rejected by the second post interview. I knew the retired dean from the first school who had access to my file and said my interview marks were strong. This is all leaving me really confused.
Anyone have any advice or words of wisdom?
If I don't get in I am considering: Re-taking the MCAT, doing a medical mission trip, doing EMT training.
