Hey y'all,

Is there a list of journals/opportunities for poster presentation/etc. that you can apply your research project for? I searched everywhere online and can't seem to find a collective list/submission dates. Maybe I'm not using the right buzzwords to search?

Thanks!

This is specialty- and project-dependent.

You may look at the journals of the papers you cite in your references or ask your research mentor for his/her thoughts.

There are several ways of going about this. I'll stick with journals because there are a gazzillon meetings at the local, national or international levels.

First off, what is your research in? That will help you narrow it down, but even then one should think about the audience you'd like to hit.

Let's suppose that you work is in some basic science area of dermatology. Does it have to do with genetics? Inflammation? Cancer? Wound healing? Cell function? Any one of these four will have a number journals in that area, or some that overlap.

A quick google search on "dermatology journals" gave me this:

dermatology journals - Google Search

I have seen lists of journals in my own research field ranked by impact factor.

Here's a search for microbiology. it's not complete...there should be higher ranked journals in here. But it's a start
Journal Rankings on Microbiology

Lastly, it is crucial that you ONLY submit to journals listed in Pubmed. There are tons of predatory journals out there that will publish your shopping list for a fee. Your school's librarians' can help you avoid these.

1. Use Google Scholar Metrics.

2. Submit to the top journal in your desired specialty.

3. Pray the pub gods look favorably upon your work.

4. Pop bottles post acceptance.
