I'm having such a big problem finding comfortable, dressy shoes. I really am sensitive to uncomfortable heals and since there is a lot of walking on interview day, i'm not sure what to do. Does anyone have any recommendations, any brands in mind?

is there a lot of walking on interview day? i didn't do much walking on mine...either way.... i tried on a pair of high-heel Danskos the other day and it was amazing. you could easily wear them with a suit. check it out. Enzo makes a comfortable shoe, as well as, Born. However, Born shoes are not always wearable in a formal setting. i personally wear banana republic dress flats with my suit. (i get all my shoes brand new on ebay...)

Payless? I'm not a girl, but from what I understand, the more expensive the shoe, the more painful it is to wear it?

yes absolutely, the more expensive the more pain...
i will try dansko..i'm super sensitive and am just unable to tolerate those uncomfortable heels, they distract me!

i'm not a girl either, but i have a pair of very expensive dress shoes, and they are more comfortable than my nike shox. i'd wear them every day if they didn't have a leather sole...

Can you say AEROSOLES

That's the bestest. Last year during interview season people used to talk about it a lot and I didn't know what they were talking about. So anyhow, a long story cut short...

Someone gave me a pair of Aerosoles business shoes and they are the most comfortable heel shoes I've ever worn in my life. All those stories I used to hear on SDN are true. I wear them to the clinic I volunteer at and they are really comfy for walking and for business shoes that have to be worn a long time. Plus they don't make those annoying clicking sounds that heel shoes usually make.

I bought some Naturalizers for interviewing, and I've taken some very long tours of some very large hospitals without even the slightest twinge. Also agree with the Aerosoles recommendation.

I agree with the Aerosoles shoes 🙂 , and they don't look like old lady shoes. Another thing you could try is one of those Dr. Scholl's gel insoles if you want to make a fave pair of shoes more confortable for those interview days. I placed a pair of those on my heels and I danced salsa all night no problem!

i love aldo. i have wider feet, but i was ok with my aldos all day at pittsburgh (and if you've been there, there is a LOT of walking on their tour!). plus, aldos are cute! hehe 🙂

OMG..I sprained my arch at my first interview from my heels. It was bad news. I'm going to need to find something else.

Naturalizers
Nordstrom Brands, but definitely not Steve Madden, Seychelle (their leathers are so hard)
For cheap ones, "Bakers" work well for me
Payless is ok, but I have the potential to slip in their shoes, the grip is not that good.
Aldo is ok too, depending on their style, don't buy 2+ inches from there though.
I love shoes... 🙂

I have a pair of Enzo Angiolini heels that are very comfortable, as are my Michael Kors heels (unfortunately suede, so they can't be worn in snow).

I have pretty comfy nine west shoes, they had to be worn in a little but they're really cute.

Not always true... I bought a pair of really cute shoes from Target for $20 and they are soooo uncomfortable.

I have a pair of Nine West heels...comfortable to wear but not to walk miles in. One suggestion I have is buying the Dr. Scholl's or Bandaid blister bandages and putting them on your heels BEFORE the day even starts. You can't see them under the nylons and they make a world of a difference.

aldos. they also sell cushy inserts. like walking on 2" clouds.

My vote is for ALDO too. 😀

No no no! Good effort though. The more expensive, the better material (leather) and design, the more comfortable. I love Payless. But it's only good for super cute cheap shoes you can only stand to wear for that 5 hours you go out that night. But comfy professional shoes that last 8+ hours, I'll drop more money on. I have a couple Enzo's and Bandolini's. 👍

It completely depends on the shoe. I have a pair of shoes I bought at Payless and I've worn them to 3 interviews. My feet were never sore, cut or in pain. I went through tours, walking to interviews...one time I even wore them to the airport because I didn't have time to change. Very comfortable.

On the other hand, I have had some more expensive shoes that I couldn't wear for more than 3-4 hours, let alone WALK with them as we do on med school interview tours.

i suggest naturalizers. they aren't the most stylish, but the ones i have are super comfortable. i've been to lots of interviews, and have had absolutely no problems walking in my shoes during the tours and even after the interview day is over. the shoes are moderately price, around $70.

Thirding (or fourthing) the Aerosoles plug.... they worked for me and I noticed a flight attendant on two of my interview trips had them on as well....

I have a couple of pairs of Kenneth Cole Reaction shoes from DSW that I looove. I work full-time in a hospital and have no problems -- and I hate heels. They make a number of dressy-looking shoes with low heels.

Miine are sort of like these:

I think that the main thing is to break the shoes in thoroughly. They're just not going to be comfy until you've worn them *a lot.*

Plus, the adrenaline of the interview should keep you going for a while.

I got Naturalizers, black pumps with a medium heel. They're cute, classic, and very professional.

ALWAYS wear hose, or even better if you're wearing pants, those thin trouser socks with your heels; it'll make a huge difference in comfort and blister control. I bought an awesome pair of trouser socks by Spanx that will be coming with me everywhere.

I would also suggest wearing your shoes a lot before your interview to break in the leather, scuff the bottoms, and see how it feels to wear them all day. I have a class that is a 30 min walk from my house, and let's just say that the experience of wearing my interview shoes that day was a little eye-opening for me. Do this with enough advance notice to let any blisters that may occur turn into callouses before the actual day, though.

Hmm, good point. Haha, I just put up mom's advice.

I had Anne Klein shoes that I could have gone the whole day in. But I also got super cheap granny-style ones for the tours...from Walmart! 😳 They were ugly, but I was floatin'.
