Silly question: but those of you whose eyes require either converging or diverging lenses (just some physics kicking in), what do you plan on wearing the day of?

Personally, I'm kind of leaning more towards the glasses b/c contacts might put too much strain. at least with glasses you can take them off, give your eyes some oxygen, and put them back on. i find that if i wear my contacts too long straight i start getting a headache..What route are the rest of you going with?

Glasses...........because I don't own contacts.

Oh and I wear diverging lenses 😉

Contacts. If your contacts aren't good for extended daily wear, talk to your optometrist. I have had good luck with Proclear Compatibles and B&L Purevision lenses for exended daily wear (my opto. says the Purevision, which I am trying now, are much more O2 permeable.)

But, anyway, wear whatever you are most comfortable wearing. Don't change anything NOW (i.e. before the MCAT.)

I would say whatever you are most comfortable with.

But...If you are comfortable with glasses, I think it is the better choice.

No lost contacts, no itchy eyes, no eye drops, etc.

I'm starting off the day with my contacts, and then switching to glasses if my eyes start to get dry or strained.

I wore my contacts, but packed my glasses and some eyedrops in case of problems (I almost never have contact problems...have been wearing them 12+ hours a day since middle school, but wasn't taking any chances on MCAT day).

I agree with ND2005. If you're a regular contact wearer, there's no reason not to wear them. But having your glasses with you is a must. I say that from experience - the one thing I forgot to grab on MCAT morning was my glasses - I did fine until Bio - for some reason, sometimes when I'm really under stress, the contacts just fail me - mine fogged over and I had to squint and blink all the way through the Bio section (taking them out wasn't an option with no glasses - I can't read more than 6" away from my nose with nothing). I would leave your glasses and contact case out on your desk with the pencils so that the proctors can see them - then you can switch without having to reach into your pockets, possibly upsetting some eagle-eyed proctor.

I have the same problem. I actually find the glasses to be more comfortable becose my diverging lenses do not allow my eyes to compensate when I am reading. In other words I am fine to drive but when it comes to reading I get very tired easily. Unfortunately for me I broke my glasses this weekend and the new ones are coming in next week, so I am using contacts for studying which is a pain in the ass.
I guess go with your comfort level. I ended up taking my contacts out last night after studying for 8 hours and studied another 2 hours without them. I could not stand them any longer.

Glasses...I don't have contacts..not yet!
also for the test day, you should wear whichever one will let you read for that long without giving you a headache or whatever else.
