Does anyone know anything about going to a foreign dental school in order to recertify in the US? Someone told me that doing something along those lines would be much cheaper/easier than going the traditional route, but I have never heard of anyone doing that.

Thanks

I assume you'd have to do the 2 extra years of school that international dentists have to do when they come here. So I don't think you'd save much and you'd also be in school for 6 years.

Don't count on getting accepted to a US school after graduating a dental school in another country. The competition is intense. Most of the international students at UCLA scored well in the 90s on NBDE part I, which was part of their application. They are the top of their schools. Just because they went to dental school in a forgein country doesn't mean it's easier or less academically intensive. Also noteworthy is the fact that tuition for international dental students at US schools can be very expensive. At UCLA the international students pay twice our tuition.

I think this is a bad route to get a US dental license. Your efforts would be better spent doing a grad program to pull up your grades and studying your ass off for the DAT.

Yup, you're right about the extra 2 year thing...but most international schools have a 5 year dental program, at least the schools in europe do. So now you're up to 7 years! Doesn't really seem worth it to me.
