I had someone in our medical school class post the same thing when we were M3s. I never asked details but can this person (or my classmate) not take out Federal student loans like the rest of us?

This individual is not eligible for federal student loans as he is an international student. He was taking out private loans with his uncle as a cosigner, but this year the loan was apparently denied. Seems like a unique situation

International students get charged full fee... and pay it. they are the kids of rich parents and that's why they come to the USA, they are considered cash cows for the university

This is a great example of why some medical schools require that international students place their entire expected tuition amount into escrow.

Yea, international students have to pay upfront. I was there, it sucked!! In my last 2 semesters, my dad miscalculated and was short $2000 for my sister and I. We didn't want to ask him for the money bc we knew it took a lot to get everything in the 1st place.
Ended up getting private loans with an aunt as a cosigner.

$287,000 in student loans when I finished. No mom/dad/gofundme.

Our new guy is in the hole $400K.

When I finished, I was in debt $28k for everything and I thought that was enormous. My med school (in state) was $3200 per year and we thought that was outrageous! My dad gave me $100 when he dropped me off for undergrad and that was the last cash I got from the old man. We were lower income and he simply could not afford it; I think that was pretty common back then and I never felt put out by paying for my own school.

I just finished paying for the undergrad, grad school, and med school for my oldest daughter (graduating in 2021). I have no idea what the total was, but it was not cheap, as she went to a private undergrad and grad school, but fortunately a state med school, all on dad's tab.

All this book learnin' is expensive.

I want a gofundme to pay off my student loans.

Paid mine off last weekend after 35 months out of fellatioship. I drive an Accord and my wife drives a 2007 Odyssey with like 190k miles. Our QoL has been great. I don't understand the problem with an MD income.
