Hey Everyone!
It's been a really bumpy two years... changing my major and career at least 50 times. I've been so scared to take the upper level science classes in college and sincerely believed I wasn't smart enough to make it into vet school.
I've been sort of pathedic on these forums the last year or two... whining about how I don't know if I can do it, I don't have the support I wanted from my parents (who believe being a vet is a bad career choice that doesn't make any money. They also believe ALL vets are miserable people.) And so I chose an easier field (occupational therapy) where I just had basic science classes, and I would still have the ability to help people and volunteer at the shelter on the side.
I decided occupational therapy wasn't for me, and started exploring other careers in health care and found they all basically had the same pre-reqs that vet school has that I was scared of (org. chemistry, physics, etc.).
So yesterday I had something inside of me just snap. Like it was telling me, this is your chance to do what you want. It's your time, and you can do it.
I can't get into the basic pre-reqs (like basic chem) until next fall, but I am ready to take it all on. I'm nervous and excited, I'm taking this opportunity and going for my dreams.
But I've contacted five vet clinics this morning about shadowing, and most said they can work something out with me.
I wanted to share my giant leap with all of you, because this forum is like a family, always so supportive and encouraging to everyone.
Good-luck to everyone else going through their pre-reqs, and don't give up! We're in this together 🙂
