Interviewing for wal-mart next week. This will be the second interview with this company. The first time they were "thoroughly impressed" but decided to go with someone who already worked with the company. This time I want to make a lasting impression because it has always been a dream since before I finished school, to work for Wal-mart. Can anyone who is working or has worked for them offer advice? Thank you

Why would anyone dream of working for Walmart? I'd find a new career before I'd ever work there.

did i miss something? whats wrong with walmart?

Contributing to effing up our economy, 80%+ of their products are made overseas which means less jobs over here, being the richest company in the world and paying most of their employees near minimum wage. I could go on.. Your dream lol.

Find a way to mention these things:

Save money. Live better.

An oxymoron at best. If I really want to save money, I would not be spending any penny at all, not a dime, zip, nada, nil, nothing... stoopid >_>; But then again, a lot of advertisement are...

OP, I mean you can say you don't mind working for walmart. I don't think I would mind either, but do you even believe yourself when you said it was literally your "dream" to work for them? lol

I never worked there, but wouldn't it be a lot better than Wags or CVS? I thought they always closed for lunch and had good pharmacist overlap.

Yes it is. Just alot of old bitter haters ranting on here. Most are probally employed by independents of LTCF. Thanks for the positive words.

Well--- I think the idea is that you "Save Money" on the normal household essentials and then take the savings to "Live Better" by buying a vacation with the family, or a new toy, etc.

No.. It truly is an effed up company. Your "dream" is depressing at best (and somehow still hilarious). Maybe you would prefer to work there over Wags or something, but your DREAM? I hope not.

pharmacy wise i agree it would be nice to work there. but they dont treat their other employees very well. Walmart is the biggest retailer in the America, and yet, "tens of thousands of Wal-Mart employees and their children are enrolled in Medicaid and are dependent on the government for healthcare." they just dont pay their employees enough to offer them healthcare, and that leads to the employees' dependence on government assistance. we in turn pay the bill.

Are CVS and Wags any better with how they treat their lower level employees?

All you guys getting on OP if you work at Wags and CVS are you making it a priority to make sure the front store employees have adequate benefits for themselves and dependents?

What about hospital pharmacists are you making sure the hospital cafeteria and janitors have adequate benefits and if they don't are you going to quit your job??

I don't see the big deal with OP wanting a job at Walmart. I hope when you all graduate the places you work for have a stellar reputation for how they treat their lower level employees or I guess you guys won't work their 🙄

No of course there is nothing wrong with working for Walmart, I think a lot of people just think it's funny because OP said it was his "dream" to work there lol I find that a little funny.

It was almost as if he was saying his dream was to work for McDonalds.

worked there for over a year

if it weren't for that hour commute one way, i would still be there

not sure how it is now, but they paid the best, had the most help (technician and clerks) and additional pharmacists, good benefits and retirement plans

i would also help out at area sam's club.....talk about the good life

the only annoying thing were the customers.....www.peopleofwalmart.com..... enough said

Not sure why you said that Walmart paid the best. That company pays pharmacists lower than Wag, CVS, and Kaiser for sure.

If you work for Walmart, be prepared to deal with lazy techs and clerks on a daily basis. Techs and clerks get paid ****tily low by Walmart compared to other pharmacies. That why the company does not retain hard-working ones, who are more than readily to switch to other companies when better offers are available. Also, there is not incentives for them to work harder, since everyone gets paid the same ****ty rates and there is no rewarding system for those who are motivated. People just do the minimum to keep their jobs.

Yeah, the customers...the worst of our species. You will deal with shoplifters, liars, cheaters, and people who are raised believing they are the center of the universe.

pay is 10000000% dependent on location

i got the walmart in a hard to hire area (do they still have those anymore?)

hence the hour commute one way.....bought a prius just for the commute

you are right about the "clientele".....you definitely are not dealing with college grads.....or even GED or high school grads hahaha

majority will be your typical medicare/medicaid......and they feel entitled to everything in life and will not pay for their child's antibiotic because it was not "free"......true story 😱

Don't listen to the negativity for a second. Working for them as a pharmacist is great: you have ample help, dedicated cashier, good hours, great computer system (almost as good as wag) and most importantly, that coveted lunch break. Are people implying that wags or cvs or other companies are angel do-gooders? RIght. All companies have faults. All companies will pitch ridiculous ideas, there's no escaping that You need to do what's best for your well-being, and that's easier to achieve with Walmart than with a lot other companies. I work for wag and like my job, but if I had an opportunity to go back to Walmart I would do it with zero hesitation and for lesser pay. Prepare yourself for common questions and practice answering them with a significant other, a friend or a family member. Practice will make you confident, which is very important. If they ask you questions for which you find yourself unprepared for, answer them the best you can and then add something from your "answer bank" which is on topic to what you were asked, since you will have good answers for that. Good luck!!! Hope you get your dream job!

The people on this thread sometimes really are annoying. I don't think more than 10% of the post on this thread answered the poor guy/gals question. Maybe Jawnly, Fade to black, and possibly one other post. Jeez people.

Anyways, I was trying to get some advice too, interviewing there tomorrow. Good luck to you original poster!
