Going to shadow, what questions should I ask

I'm going to shadow a DO who is the program director in an ER near where I live and also has close ties to a school. I was wondering what questions people would ask him if they were shadowing. Thank you

I found it pretty informative to really pay attention to the paperwork, and business side of medicine. The interesting part was the time spent with patients, but that's only half "or less" of the work involved. Always good to know what you're getting yourself into.

yeah, and as far as questions... you can ask about med school, osteopathic philosophy, his experience being an osteopathic doctor and how md's and do's work together, ect... just act like your interested in learning what your getting yourself into and ask him questions based on that

At first, before we saw any patients, I asked a lot of questions about the education at NYCOM (where he went), how he incorporated the osteopathic principles into his practice, the differences he's seen between MDs and DOs, lots of Osteopath related stuff. Then, after each patient we went back to his office so he could dictate. After he was done I asked him questions specific to each patient, just to get a feel for their history etc. I was really worried beforehand too, but I think that once you're there it all comes pretty easily. You really will have a lot of questions, you won't just be pulling them out of nowhere.
