Anyone out here going to UOP with kids? How safe would you say the place is? I just visited Stockton for the first time last week and was not so impressed by the place. I also found out that it is the second city where you are most likely to get your car stolen in the US and that you cannot go out at night alone. :scared:
How do students with children manage to live in the area? I'm a single parent and am especially concerned about security issues in a neighbourhood in which we may spend 3 years of our lives. Please let me know how you cope before I pass a great educational opportunity because of my unfounded fears.

Well in the 2 years that I've been in stockton, I've gotten my car stolen once (and the CD player stripped out along with a ton of damage), I've got my mail broken into, checks stolen, and my bank account broken into and 400 dollars stolen from it. Luckily my bank reimbursed this. I've seen a ton of cars windows blown out in my apartment complex.

There is a lot of crime here. You just have to deal with it if you choose to live here. I'm still not sure why someone would choose to go to UOP though if you had any other school to choose. Especially when 1 in every 6 students of last year's class failed and are forced to stay another year in stockton. Professors that are forced to take English classes because they can't speak english. Professors that take pride in giving tests that have less than 50% average uncurved. It has just become 1 big regret and 1 big nightmare for a lot of students. Not to mention the education isn't very good either for the 100,000 dollars that you are spending.

Thanks a lot for your response. After what I saw of Stockton and what I have heard from you and other members on the pre-pharm forum, my mind is pretty much made up. I sure am happy that I decided to visit the place before I even submitted my application and I'm grateful to responses from members that have confirmed my fears.
