Goldstandard vs AAMC practice tests

I've heard that Goldstandard sells their practice tests which they claim to be very similar to the AAMC practice tests in difficulty, content, etc. Plus they are really really cheap. Are they any different from the AAMC practice tests?

buy the AAMCs first, and the Gold standards if you need extra practice

GS is good practice but I suggest just skipping there verbal completely, it was complete crap.

Well, I have a lot of good things to say about the Gold standard MCATs. They are amazing and cheap. For all you who are self studying, I would strongly suggest getting them. The physics section passages are really similar to the AAMCs passages but the question are bit more difficult. If you can get a 11 on the gold standard physics, you could probably get a 13 or up on the AAMCs. I find them to be a great complement to Kaplan's physics passages, for while Kaplan passages enhances your reading comprehension, and your ability to pick important information in extremely convoluted passages while rewarding you with easy questions, Gold standard gives you simple AAMC style passages, and challenges you with tough questions. However, In my opinion, I think the biological science section is a bit easier than Kaplan or AAMC, only because the passages are much shorter and require a lot less passages utilization and reading comprehension. I am able to finish their bio section with 30 minutes left. As for the verbal, I am not sure what amwatts032's grievance is, but I have no problems with it, my verbal score on GS have actually been really similar to the AAMCs. Well, the last statement I want to make about the test is that Gold standard's curve is probably one the least generous out there (next to TPR), so don't let your score on those tests lower your confidence, just learn from your mistakes and don't ever make them again.

hey tell me more, why do you think the verbal is complete crap?

for verbal the passages are way too easy but the curve is ridiculous like I only made above a 9 once, and I only made below a 10 once on my aamcs.

You could miss like 5 and still get an 8.

FOr sciences they are good at solidfying the concepts but the scores should not be taken seriously. The science passages were usually alot shorter than AAMCs and they didnt require alot of information to be drawn from the passage.

Invest in AAMC and Kaplan 1-6 if you can, and then buy GS for extra practice.

Where can I find Kaplan 1-6? Is this CBT?
