So I am about to go into my second year and have just been trying to use this thread to see what the best study materials/strategies are for the boards I will be taking later this year.

I have heard a lot about Goljan but still would like more information. I see that he has books and also some sort of audio study material....what is the difference? which one is better? When people say Goljan lectures are they referring to his audio?

Also, where do you get the audio? And i'm assuming people only use Goljan to study pathologhy? Is this the only subject his study materials teach?

basically in short...I would love if some experienced board studiers/takers could just give me some overall information about Goljan. It seems that he has really helped some people with their studying! I've tried looking through the forums, but it seems as if when everyone talks about how they studied for step 1 it is in another language haha

thanks for any help!

Goljan books are available wherever medical books are sold.

Goljan audio is a pirated copy of lectures he gave many years ago, and discussing how to acquire it is not permitted on this forum.

Just to ask: is there a legal way to acquire the Goljan lectures? In other words, have the lectures ever been sold in a non-pirated fashion?

You don't need the audio . Buy Rapid Review Pathology and read it 2 times in full, highlighting/underline things that you think are interesting, confusing, or got came across doing UWorld questions. Then, read it again w/ emphasis mostly on your underlined sections or strictly high yield margins. Check out the Taus method for a study schedule.

I ended up reading the book 4x and landed 261. Granted you will need to have a solid background in other areas like biochem and anatomy but Goljan does the best job I've seen of integrating information. Goljan + Uworld + spending alot of time studying (haha!) will get you a good score....oh and i guess you should read FA at least once.

Hope that helps you. Good luck.
