Good 4 year Pre-Med schedule? Biochem

Why take it after your sophomore year?

But, yes, Biochemistry is a great degree and you probably would have time to take the MCAT over the summer. Only take it if you feel ready though. Retakes are (purportedly) annoying, for obvious reasons.

So what would be a better time to take the MCAT?

Well most take it summer of their junior year, but you can take it whenever you have completed the pre-reqs. Just make sure you will apply before the scores expire. (Usually schools will accept scores up to 2-4 yrs old). Keep in mind the 2015 MCAT will probably add psychology and sociology as pre-reqs.

So you would take it during the summer of junior year to senior? Then apply to Med schools during beginning of senior year? Kind of like HS?

This is a definite. I can't remember which school it was (EVMS or Wake Forest), but it is already reflected on their website for entering class of 2016.

What sucks the most is that this is going to push even more people into being Bio and Chem majors due to the social science and biochemistry requirement that med schools are now going to have. One degree, all the pre-reqs; premed students dream.

So taking the MCAT the summer b/w junior and senior year be safe? What if I wanted to retake MCAT? How would that work? Does that plan give ample amount of time to prepare applications?

If you are not planning on taking a year off, I would take the MCAT in the beginning/middle of Junior year. HOWEVER, do not take the MCAT until you are ready, study hard and then rock the MCAT.

So would studying my @$$ off during the summer b/w sophomore and junior year then taking it at the beginning of junior year be my best bet? As long as I am comfortable and prepared to ROCK it!!!?

and then I can retake it in the summer of junior and senior year if my score wasn't that well?!

Yes that sounds like a valid approach, although I know that there is some time in the fall and late winter w/no test dates. Taking it in the summer/early fall would work as long as you have completed that classes that the material is on. If you are not happy with your score, I would take it again when you are ready in the spring. This gives you the advantage to see your new score before you submit your application.
