I'm a MS3 who's most likely going into anesthesia and I have an anesthesia elective coming up. I really want to impress the attendings and make it known that how interested i am. Are there any good books you guys would recommend?

Tons of threads about this, do a search. Or just freaking look on Amazon.

Anesthesia Secrets.

Or you could just get a baby Miller & read it cover to cover. You're a MS3, so you're not doing anything else, right?

I 2nd Secrets. Miller (big & small) has always been too dry for my tastes. Morgan & Mikhail would be a better choice, IMO; same level as baby miller but a better read.

secrets will have the most likely pimped questions. i too prefer morgan mikhail to baby miller...

I'm reading Faust right now. Good.

Baby miller would be a good text to get through before your rotation. The main points for a student rotation would be the pharmacology sections. Anything you read would be great, but at least the first 7 chapters in the old baby miller.

Not baby miller, the real deal, read it all, both volumes. You should also be able to quote specific page numbers for attendings, like pg 369 where Miller states that the Allen test is neither sensitive nor specific for predicting collateral blood flow. That is if you are really hardcore gas and want to get into a killer residency.

😀(ps dont do this or u are a *****.) Baby Miller is a easy read in my opinion, but u prolly cant go wrong with secrets or morgan and mikal. I would just say check them out in your hospital library and buy the one u like the best.👍 (pss i dont know what pg 369 says, i have never opened miller's)
