Now that interview season is rolling around I thought it might be interesting for people to post what to look out for (both good and bad) during interviews.
I was really wrong about the program I chose and thinking back there were some things I should have noticed during the interview...
1) Lack of residents to talk to...this should be a major flag in my opinion. There should be lots of residents happy to promote their program.. At my interview I think there were only 2. I found out later when I was a resident that you needed to be "invited" as a resident by the office to come and talk to the interviewees.
2) I had a family and I found some interviewers just could NOT get past having me explain exactly how I was going to make it during residency
3) Good signs--obviously residents from programs contacting you telling you they are interested in having you at their program
Hope this post is considered appropriate for this forum... I think the dialogue may help out some people like myself who really didn't know ALL the things to pay attention to.
