The recommended book for our class is Leningers, but thats expensive and our profs say it is way too much info. Anyone got any good recommendations for biochem review books, practice questions, etc? I didnt see a BRS Biochem in our bookstore, but if that exists, is it any good?

Lippincotts Illustrated Review, Hands Down

our school used Devlin 6th edition, but I rarely used it. I relied more on the lectures and Lippincotts.

3rd for Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews

Agreed. Lippincott's will own your soul (and you'll love every second of it).

Yeah, definitely Lippincott's. I've got a copy of Horton's Principles of Biochemistry which I use when I want to go into a bit more detail, but doesn't happen very often!

BRS biochem does exist. Even if you find a copy of the BRS biochem, don't buy it. I don't think it's very helpful, and it doesn't include any cell bio or genetics chapters.

Definitely Lippincott's. We had Marks as required text for biochem. It was not bad for reference but way too much for every day use.

Lippincot is good but BRS is my best friend. Second years advised us not to buy it and to get the NMS and the Lippincot. I bought the BRS anyway and loved it!!! I just go to another source for info that it doesnt have--but it has most of what I needed.

Ugh, we used this textbook for my undergraduate Biochemistry course...it's truly something awful. I would highly recommend any OTHER text.

Yes, Devlin is an awful resource- when it comes to understanding I prefer Lehninger, when it comes to more depth- Voet and Voet, and when it comes to recommending a resource for med students I always recommend Lippincotts.
