My last field placement didn't have a big diagnosing component to it so sometimes I feel I am lacking in that area, what are some good books anyone can recommend on diagnosing with clinical vignettes and possibly some flash cards for the DSM IV? Any reading material that will improve my clinical training?

Kaplan and Sadock's Synopsis of Psychiatry and DSM-IV-TR Casebook

K&S may be a bit daunting if you are just learning diagnostic skills. I love the text, but you may want to start out with something more straight forward like: "DSM-IV-TR Casebook: A Learning Companion to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, Text Revision" by Spitzer et al. It is a bit pricey at $75, but I've heard good things.

Yes Daunting is correct, Amazon has a few pages listed and it was very advanced for what I'm looking for, more for psychiatrists trying to learn a few things, but I will definitely pick up the casebook!

If you have access to your school's library - they may have a subscription to Psychiatry Online. If they do - there are dozens of case studies there that you can use to study with.
