Hi all,

Sorry for two new threads in the same week. I'm wondering if these goals are set high enough to get me some interviews in the 2016-17 admission cycle.

Currently, my oGPA = 3.18, and sGPA = 3.21, and I've taken a practice DAT on datbootcamp (~17) (with absolutely zero preparation)

Will these stats make me competitive?
DAT: 22
oGPA: 3.30
sGPA: 3.30
Shadowing Hours: 100
Volunteering Hours: 100

ECs: full-time job every summer (not dentistry related, software engineer this Summer), 3 varsity sports + summer training

I'm wondering if I should quit my job this Summer (which pays pretty well for a Summer internship) and go into debt for my undergrad education, so that I can increase study-time for DAT, and increase shadowing hours and volunteer hours).

Again, sorry for the repetitive post; any input is valued!

22 DAT is pretty good, do you have any subjects that are below a 20? Your GPA is a little low, are you still taking classes?

I would actually keep the internship and squeeze in more volunteering and shadowing on the side, no need to quit the internship. If I was an admissions board member, I actually prefer to see valuable and unique work experience rather than than more shadowing. You still have a lot of time, try to set 5-10hrs/week get shadowing and volunteering in by the next application cycle rolls around.

I have 1 day per week that I can shadow my dentist, so I'll still be able to get 7-9 hours of shadowing per week for the rest of summer (then I can get 2 weeks full-time over Christmas break, and 2 weeks full-time over spring break). Thank you for your input! and yes I am still taking classes.

Also, I don't have a 22 DAT; that's my goal.

why not aim for a 30?

thank you for the inspiration. believing is achieving! 30 here I come!

You want to make sure DAT is the only thing on your mind while you study. I would set aside anything you can so that you can focus.
Have a strong study method and keep improving on it as you study. You want to feel like you can crush the DAT as you walk in the testing center. You got this!
