Has anyone found any good apps for studying? I have to take the bus to get to class every day so I have a lot of downtown that could be filled. I have been using iFlipr to make flash cards, but is there anything else worthwhile? Has anyone tried the AnatomyLab app or any of the Netter flash cards?

Epocrates-duh
Skyscape, Medscape--hardly used, yet free
Eponyms--used a few times so far
DxSaurus
ECG guide
iAnatomy
iMurmur--excellent
USMLE Wiz 2--can get through so many in down time
epocrates disease game--put me on nerd alert
MedCalc

There are a bunch of question bank apps available.

Could also listen to med podcasts. I also put a bunch of kaplan lecture videos on my iPhone to watch during down time when I don't feel like reading.

Does anyone have anything to add to this thread? I'm looking for good apps that will help with pre-reqs (Chem, Bio. etc) I'll check out the flash card maker referenced above. I was also thinking of making an audio study guide. In principle, I plan to record a MP3 on home computer and load onto ipod? (this is my first ipod! )

I also plan on hooking the iPod into my car somehow so I can maximize my hour long commute, & listen to podcasts/music ----my tape player just broke.....😎 I love my car.

(flash cards are for when not driving)

Any good CHEM / BIO apps for vocabulary and visual aids?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I found this thread with the "search" function....couldn't tell you were all already medical students from the below...

I found it very useful to "dictate" my review books and then listen to them after at a faster rate on the second and third pass (very helpful for boards).

There is a great app called "dictamus" that turns the iphone into a stellar dictaphone. There is even a free version with limited functionality to see if it'll work for you, full veresion costs $10.

I like the ReachMD app for audio learning. And there are tons of great podcasts out there.

You can make "flash cards" on powerpoint, store on "dropbox" and review that easily anywhere - plus you can easily share powerpoint files and get your friends to make them as well and share amongst your study group.

The best app to use for flashcards would probably be "anki" which can be used in safari or you can buy the app (it's pricey though). You can also share these files and use them on iphone, ipad, or pc/mac.

There are also programs that allow you to convert text to speech (google this). I had a question bank in PDF that I converted and this helped me study for step 3 during my commute for intern year. Since the format was question, answer choices, answer explanation it was an excellent way to review in the car.

Thanks, DOctorJay for the very helpful response! 👍
