I walked into the ED yesterday and it was like seeing a herd of deer in the headlights. Don't let the patients know you're afraid. They can smell fear.
I can smell it from here...must be all the wildfire smoke carrying it along the winds.😛
I love the smell of interns in the morning....

Awww....buckley. I'm sorry you're having a hard time adjusting.
Its ALWAYS difficult at a new place - you don't know where anything is, what forms to fill out, whom to call and to top it off, if you haven't spent a considerable amount of time in a US hospital, even the basic stuff seems "foreign" to you.
It WILL get better and don't let those who don't understand get you down; I'll bet there's just as much stuff they get wrong and you don't notice it.
PS...what did you decide to carry all your "stuff" in? Does it all fit into your long coat?😉
It is tough...hahaha....and not having my fanny pack makes it tougher! No it does not fit in the pockets of my LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG coat (which really turned out to be too big for me!) and we still haven't gotten any lockers...huhuhu...so I am lugging a shoulder bag around...
I may be that lost intern, but I certainly don't want to be the whiny one. At the end of the day, I'm still grateful to be where I am and hopefully I'll get my act together.
a la "pleasantly demented", eh? 😉
I can't believe there isn't a call room or someplace safe to put your belongings. But yes, it is MUCH better to be lost and funny about it than to be the whiny one. Reputations built as an intern will last a long time.
