Hey everyone,
I am beginning to apply to psyd programs and I need some advice. I am looking for a good apa accredited program with a high percentage of students getting apa accredited internships, decent financial aid, and i am not interested in school psychology or a judicial concentration. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or did anyone have a particuarly great experience at a school and if so why? Thank you so much for your help!

Start with Baylor and Rutgers... There are others though.

Finacial aid in terms of the program providing you with support is rare in Psy.Ds. I agree with MarkP. Srtar with Baylor and Rutgers, but also look at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Xavier (Cincinnatti). I think they have some TA or RA positions that allow for a partial remisions and stipends.

Insider's Guide has information on PsyD programs, I think, and they list the % of students that have full or partial tuition remission.

Rutger's U
Baylor U
Indiana State U
Virginia Consortium
Indiana U of Pennsylvania

I would have made the same list except I would have:

left off Indiana State U (just because I'm not familiar with it not because there's anything wrong with it)

added Loyola College of Maryland

Don't forget to look at PCOM (Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine). I had no idea how much I was able to accomplish in my first year. Enjoy!

I'm starting the PsyD program at Xavier in the fall and they seem to have their act together. I get $3,300/semester tuition remission, plus 10 hrs of minimum wage pay per week. It's not much, but every little bit helps.

Plus, they have a great track record for placing students in internships. We'll hope I get lucky.

Although an N=1, I met a student from Xavier earlier this year, and I was impressed by both her research as well as general clinical knowledge. It seems like a solid option for people looking for a good program.

I agree...Xavier has a great program with solid faculty. It is a neat campus too!

Glad to hear some positive things about Xavier. As school looms closer and the economy looks crappy, I'm getting really scared. Every little bit helps.
