Good resources for hemepath beginner

All the resources I've been able to find for hemepath seem to assume a certain level of knowledge so that I end up randomly paging through the book to do an unknown. I need a resource for beginners that can give a good overview and perhaps some semi-systematic approach to looking at an unknown.

Any good online resources or tutorials that anyone has found.

Also any good books for the beginner?
