Hello, I heard an upperclassman say that it was a good idea to buy a board review book at the start of med 1 to kind of go through the topics of the subject that you are learning at the time for a good summary.

I could not for the life of me remember what book he was talking about, what are some good step 1 review books to use as a summary? not necessarily start studying for step 1, but just for keeping organized and making sure that the key points are learned from each unit.

Thanks!

He was probably talking about the popular First Aid for the USMLE Step 1, commonly referred to in this forum simply as "FA"

Kaplan MedEssentials is also a good review book (a bit more detailed than FA).

Thought this would be a good idea, First Aid collected dust during my first year. don't bother till later when an updated version comes out and you are closer to test time. That being said did buy the Rapid Review series used and reviewed MS1 subjects over the summer because I couln't afford to golf and drink EVERY day.

My FA collected dust during first year also, but knowing what I know now, I wish I had gone through and annotated it during first year. Oh how nice it would be to have a fully annotated biochem section to look back on when I get ready to buckle down for boards!
