Good surgery shelf book? Help from those who did well on shelf would be nice.

Definitely felt like the medicine shelf, even checked the cover to make sure I had the right exam. Perhaps skimming through a medicine book would help.

Pestana review is very high yeild. Google it. Just straight high yeild vignettes.

FadingPromise, I think I may find myself in your situation - doing surgery before medicine. I was recommended the same sources you're using NMS & Pestana, but from people who had done IM before Surgery. I am very interested to how this worked out for you and what (if any) book you would recommend for a preview of IM for the shelf.

Good luck to you!!

Pestana is a great resource for learning basic surgical points, but I disagree that it's extremely high yield for the shelf. Maybe I'm misremembering though. My advice is to know pre-test cold.

kaplan qbank book was right on target with the shelf. I glanced through first aid. I think I used case files also. I'd avoid blueprints, I saw a few pages of it and put it back on the shelf. also tried to read NMS casefiles, it looked good but ran out of time studying
