I'm a 3rd year med student currently on my surgery rotation and know that I want to go into ophthalmology. I've shadowed a few ophthalmologists and took an elective during 1st year but at this point, my knowledge of ophthalmology is pretty limited. I've got my 2-week ophthalmology rotation coming up in a few weeks and my 4th year rotation in August and am looking for a good introductory textbook. I've already purchased Ophtobook by Dr. Timothy Root but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for other textbooks that will help me stand out during my clerkships. Thanks!

ophthalmology: A pocket textbook atlas by G. Lang or Lange's General ophthalmology

I wanted to bump this thread.

I'm entering MS4 and have a handful of ophtho rotations coming up. For texts I was going to buy the Will's Eye Manual and Oxford Handbook of Ophtho (for my white coat to carry with me).

Would it be useful to buy the Atlas of Clinical Ophthalmology now since I'll probably need it eventually anyway?

Any other textbook suggestions?

Kanski is great as well.

If there's an atlas in the library, then use it, but certainly don't buy one.

Mass eye and ear manual better for quick reference than Wills for a med student. Wills is good for residents on call looking for a quick treatment, doesn't have a lot of background to learn from. Practical Ophthalmology: A Manual for Beginning Residents is good for rotations.
