Hi there,

I am planning to joine denta school by the year 2010. I already started working on my DAT prep. when is the good time to take DAT. I plan to take it in MAY/JUNE

How about if I don't make it on the first time? How long after the first one I will be able to take the second one?

Cheers

After you take it the first time. You have to wait 3 months before you can take it again.

Hey,

I heard that you have to wait 3 months before you can retake it...

That's why I'm planning on taking it in March/April.

Anyways, good luck to you!

I would really buckle down and study for it, where hopefully you dont have to take it again after the first time.

All applications start by May 1st but the actually sending out goes like May 15th, and schools start accepting by June I believe.

So you want to take by early may so you can be done and sent everything in by the starting of application process

Good Luck, I am taking mine in the end of March, or starting of April

Also the test dates from Feb 7, 2009 to Feb 28, 2009 are blocked out and from April 9, 2009 to April 30, 2009, are also blocked out. Meaning you will not be able to take the test between those dates. As notated by ADA.org

The application cycle doesn't actually open until June 1, so be sure to submit on/as close as possible to that date. Just keep in mind getting the application in early is your first priority, and taking the DAT doesn't necessarily have to happen before then. I wouldn't go into the test with the mindset of having to take it again, because you're setting yourself up for failure...study for it like its the only time you will need to take it. Take practice tests so there are no surprises in terms of timing, format, etc.

I have a busy semester, so I will not be able to study heavily until May, and I plan on taking it right at the beginning of July...if you want to be in the early round of interviews, I wouldn't suggest going much later than what I am doing. And yes the disadvantage is that I wouldn't be able to take again until 3 months later (early October), but I plan on studying like that isn't an option, so you should too! Good luck!
