I just got back from military duty. I'm still missing biochem, microbio and genetics. Im trying to get all my paperwork (LORs, Transcripts, personal statement ) in when the window for applying opens. My question is... I'm thinking of taking the DAT by late July beginning of Aug. would that hurt my application even if I submit everything else by May???
Thank you

No Late July is not late for taking DAT. but manage your time to do the best because if you want to retake that you must wait 90 days and it will be too late for 2009 cycle.
Good luck

You're fine. Send AADSAS stuff as soon as it's available b/c that part takes the longest. If you take the DAT by late July/early August, your scores will arrive at schools pretty close to the same time they receive your AADSAS stuff. Like the previous guy said, the drawback to taking the test late in the summer is the timing for a retake (if necessary). But the most important thing is being ready for the test, so if you need the summer to study (while taking no classes) than stick with that.

thanks for the comments, I'll be taking Biochem in the summer at the same time studying for the DAT. Well let the journey begin.

I would recommend not taking any classes while studying for the DAT. Even if you have a high GPA, not doing well on this test will severly limit your school options. It would be better to take a heavy semester next spring. If you don't have a choice, hopefully you're good at time management.

I have no option as far as the classes I have left to take in order to graduate on time. Lets say my military duty time hasn't been helpful in regard to my studies. I think I can manage 3 months of 1 class (biochem) and DAT prep. But thanks for your suggestion.
