So Googles new competitor to facebook/twitter is the brand new Google Buzz. Do you guys think it will be a success or fail???

I really like the use of the GPS when you buzz on your phone, you can see what people around you are "buzzing" and if you comment it'll show where you commented from. I think thats pretty kool, say you walk out of a movie and you want something else to do, you see what other people are saying and some dude might be like omg this is the best cocaine i have ever had... then you can proceed to his location.

It seems cool, but it doesn't seem to really offer anything unique enough to draw people away from other, already established, services. None of my friends seem to be using it, then again I don't have any friends since I'm too busy studying...

I think the mobile thing is very unique. and the fact that its built into gmail means you only need to go to one place to do everything.

and lets not forget...Google always wins, they dont build things like ipads...

Thats true, but that may end up limiting its appeal to people. Some people have yet to see the light, and for that reason do not use gmail. But yes, they did pick a good time to enter the market, considering apple just fell flat on its face.

I still don't have a Facebook or a myspace, even though people bug me to get a Facebook, constantly. I have no idea what happened to privacy in this country, but I value mine. I think anyone looking into something as serious as med school and a career as a doctor should consider the possibility of embarassing Facebook escapades damaging your name. At least do yourself a favor and don't use your real name.

Exactly. You can already see the Google Buzz (1). Why does it need to me in my inbox too (and give me false hope that a school is contacting me 😛)

I know! And it's annoying that it lists anyone's status update as a new buzz. They seriously need to have settings that can be edited. I don't know what they were thinking.

You should be able to set up a filter to send those emails to archive w/o being read.

Didn't Google also have something new a few months ago? It was called Google Wave, IIRC. A friend sent me an invite to that but I didn't see much usefulness in it. My attitude is the same towards Google Buzz.

I Heart Google. I don't know about this Buzz thing yet, but I wanted to tell y'all about how I revamped my gmail. Click on Settings at the top of the page when you are in your gmail. Then click on Labs. Have Fun!

The thing I like the most is having my calendar on the rhs of my gmail. I am now finally using it! I also like how I can share my calendar with my mom so she can feel like she is more involved in my life. Awww...
