Got Acceptance from Midwestern

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congratulations! Were you on the alternate list before the acceptance?

hey congrats!!!

Congrats on the acceptance. I, however, have an extrememly bitter taste in my mouth about midwestern. it was my first interview, interviewed in october 14th i believe, it was a tuesday. Then I find out they are interviewed GOBS of people, 400, for 100 spots. I thought my interview went well, then got 3 more interview invites since then. I paid a **** ton of money to fly to phoenix, rent a car and hotel, and got flat out DENIED on dec.1. My beef is this: Midwestern, please don't interview so many people. Luckily I have been accepted elsewhere so I am not quite as bitter, but nonetheless I am considering writing them a letter stating that I reject their rejection.

WAH WAH WAH WAH

you sound like a baby. you're complaining because a school had the audacity to interview you THEN reject you....

do you realize how many people dont even get interviews? many people would kill to get an interview. You got one, and you still complain? Maybe the personality you show here was shown in your interview and realized they didn't want you.

Its really a slap in the face to the many applicants struggling to complain about ONE rejection after an interview.

Maybe you misinterpreted my personality. I have been rejected tons of places, and that's ok I can dry my elephant tears. What I am upset about is the fact that they interview TOO many people, and secondly I was told I would be contacted on dec. 1st and was not, didn't even get the letter yet, I called and asked my status, the lady answered me with one word: "DENIED."
I didn't even get a whole sentence, and I think I should have gotten that for the 600$ dollars I spent to visit a place that doesn't have a dental building built yet.
Cheers mate.

okay. I guess I sort of misunderstood what you are saying.

Still, its not up to you how many freaking people they interview. I applaud them for interviewing a TON of candidates. To me that means they are really looking for people with a certain type of personality.

If a school is willing to put the time and money into interviewing 500 students, then more power to them! Let the student's scores get them to the interview, and then let their personalities secure them a chair.

I just got my acceptance from midwestern today. Got call from a call. hoooho:hardy:

Congratulations mailis. Will you be accepting their offer? I didn't realize they would be contacting people until after Jan 2nd at least. Good for you.🙂

Geez get off his back! Can't you understand he is just saying they wasted his time and money.

I can understand his feeling because I have a wife and a daughter and for me to take an interview I had to spend a lot of money that we don't have. So if the school wasn't serious about me I wouldn't want to go to the interview so I wouldn't waste money.

Did you just quote yourself?

LOL! That was funny.

By the way, it IS frustrating when you realize that your money went to waste. Like DrSmiles12 said, I also have a family and went into some significant debt during applications/interviews. But you know how I see it? What are you willing to pay to get into one of your schools? If it means interviewing at them all, you'd do it, right?

So because none of us know or will ever understand how & why adcoms do what they do, just be grateful for the interview. Why? Because you can at least go away from it knowing you were qualified enough to be invited. Roughly speaking, if you get an interview you've already beaten ~1 in 10 odds. If you are then accepted you've beaten another ~1 in 3-5 odds. ANY INTERVIEW is a compliment...albeit an expensive compliment!
