Hey everyone,

First, I want to thank everyone who has helped or given tips to anyone on SDN about what to major in or the DAT (because I probably read them 🙂. But I got an acceptance letter a few days ago from the school I really wanted to go to. But, I wanted to give back so I'm going to try and put some helpful tips on here (though I should have given a breakdown of my DAT as soon as I finished). Here we go...

DAT:
AA:19
Biology:18
Chemistry:18ish
Organic Chemistry:26ish
PAT:18
Reading:20
Math:14

I cant really remember the scores exactly. But DO learn the material while taking organic chemistry class, DO NOT underestimate the math portion of the DAT (I did. I figured it would be easy. I guessed on like 60% of them.), DO buy all those expensive software programs for the PAT, DO look at all the websites I'm about to put down.

ESCEPCIALLY THIS ONE!!!!!!!

Here are some websites to help with your interview. (be sure to know a rougggh answer to every question. I had the first question memorized that a dental school asked me and I remember how bored they looked listening to me say it haha. Be INTERESTING in your interview. Say anything that might seem interesting to someone else. By that I mean, in one interview, we talked about fishing the entire time. Be RELATEABLE. By that I mean, "people like people who like them" and "people like people who are like them" *fishing* . Use those quotes to your advantage.)

Hints:
Join Toastmasters or your schools public speaking club. It helped me so much with being up in front of other people and with impromptu speaking. I'm sure it showed in the interview.

Have fun during college, but not to much.

Join every club that sparks your interest, even a little.

Major in anything you want as long as you get the classes you need to enter dental school (aka pre-requisites.) (I should have been a sociology major but I didnt take the elective till my junior year, unfortunately.)

Date as much as you can during college. I've had 3 different long-term girlfriends during college. I've learned something new about myself, about the world, and especially about women during each relationship. General gist: Women are a mystery, and what they say is an enigma.

Every teacher has a different teaching style, which makes it difficult to have your own learning style. But nevertheless, repetition is key.

Pick elective classes that seem interesting to you. They make you interesting.

Be nice to EVERYONE, ALWAYS.

Time flies, make the best of it and do the best with it.

Wow, this is a great collection of what seem to be really helpful threads!

Thanks so much for posting 👍 And congrats on the acceptance!

i love this! thanks so much for posting. what i found extremely hilarious was about women and them being a mystery...hahaha

This is a great list of resources! You should find a way to get this posted/bumped next spring for people who are applying in the next cycle (otherwise they might not see it).
