Hey everyone!

Not African American? Delete Howard.
Delete U of WA (not WWAMI).
Delete the state public schools (where you are OOS).
Delete Hofstra.
Delete Dartmouth (unless there is something quirky in your ap).
You can keep your IS privates where your MCAT is at or below the 10th% for Hail Mary's (though I don't recommend it).

Anyone else would like to help? Much appreciated!

This is a very poor list and you barely have any target schools - it is mostly far reaches and state schools you are not a resident of. Also you give no information of any ECs. Without any ECs your chances are pretty much 0%. You should list your ECs to get the best advice: Clinical volunteering, non-clinical volunteering, shadowing, research (post-presentation? publications?), and other interesting things about your app.

A more realistic list would be (assuming you have adequate ECs):

Target Schools (schools were your MCAT is 1 +/- your MCAT)
  • All your state schools (SUNY Upstate, SUNY Downstate, Buffalo)
  • GW
  • Creighton
  • Geisinger
  • Tulane
  • Drexel
  • Albany
  • QUinnipiac
  • East Virginia
  • NYMC
  • Wake
  • Temple
  • Georgetown
  • Tufts
  • University of Miami
  • St. Louis University
Jefferson, and UPitt (still have a chance at since you MCAT is around their 25th percentile of accepted applicants)

Any schools where you are around their 10th percentile is very unlikely unless you are a URM, Vet, D1 athlete, or something else that is very interesting.

For additional advice it would be good to hear from @Goro and @Faha

Thank you for your helpful comments! I have around 800hrs of research (no publications or presentations) both clinical and basic/translational, ~350 hrs of shadowing, 150 hours of clinical volunteering. I've been an RA for 3 semesters and I founded an organizations at my school that is involved in interacting with hospitalized patients.

Happy to help! Your ECs are good prioritize the schools I've listed. If you have the funds then throw in a couple of your favorite reaches. For reaches, I would look at the schools where your MCAT is at or above their reported 10th percentile on the MSAR.

Wonderful, Thanks for your help again!

If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me.

Remove VTech. Geisinger tends to favor PA applicants, especially those from NEPA.

Consider adding (in addition to the other schools listed here): Oakland, Loyola

My stats were basically identical to your’s when I applied. I had what were labeled on SDN “exceptional” ECs, but my list:

Penn State
Temple
Drexel
Jefferson
Penn
Geisinger
Wake Forest
Virginia Commonwealth
Eastern Virginia
Quinnipiac
Tufts
Vermont
Oakland
Western Michigan
Miami
Rush
Loyola
South Florida
Albany
Stony Brook
Dartmouth
Marshall
West Virginia

Penn..obviously a stretch. Im from rural PA, which is why Marshall and WVU appeared there.

You can remove the state public schools that accept few non residents with your stats and no connection to the state including:
Rutgers
Robert Wood Johnson
UMass
Chapel Hill
Colorado
Virginia Tech
U Washington (accepts less than 1% of applicants who are not from states in the Northwest)
Tennessee
Toledo
Maryland
Michigan State
You can remove Howard unless you are URM
Icahn, Cornell, Emory, Pitt, Ohio State are reaches
You could add these schools:
Seton Hall
Quinnipiac
Vermont
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
NOVA MD

Thanks Faha! I'll make some adjustments!

Great! thanks for helping me out!

I had similar stats to yours, but very different EC’s (thousands of clinical hours and a lot of volunteering and community service). I agree that your list is top heavy. I would recommend starting some non-clinical volunteering in case you need to reapply. If you really want to get in this cycle, add your top 5 DO schools. Make sure your essays are very good because that will help you stand out.
