Would you say that medical schools view a cumulative of 3.83 as much higher than a 3.81? I'm debating whether to pick up an extra course this semester...my cumulative/science would be around 3.82/3.77 without the course and 3.83/3.78 with it...I know it's only .01 of a point, but I've been getting some mixed opinions

You could use that extra free time while not taking that class to work on relaxation/meditation/calming exercises. Or just take a nap. I think you need to stop stressing yourself out with all that gunning.

It is not a material difference. Your time would be better spent improving your ECs and application rather than worrying about hundredths of points on your GPA.

thanks for the insight; i agree. on another note, are these GPAs competitive are higher level programs or in general?

In general, they are certainly fine. Not sure exactly what you mean by "higher level," and certainly don't want to give you a heart attack as you stress over 0.01, but the most competitive programs have median GPAs OVER 3.9, so yeah, at that level, 3.77 or 3.78 isn't that impressive. Depending on what the rest of your application looks like you could absolutely be admitted with your GPA, but at that point it would be in spite of your GPA, not because of it, and again, 0.01 one way or the other isn't going to matter to anyone except you.

A 3.82/3.77 should not be disqualifying practically anywhere. You've checked off the box that you can handle undergraduate science material and workloads, the rest of your application (MCAT, ECs) will determine how competitive you are at schools of all levels.

I have all top tie numbers. Still no “A” yet. So nothing guaranty.

How do you know you'll get an A? If you overload yourself and you might get a B and (gasp) drop below a 3.8/3.75. No admission committee member or employer cares about mere hundredths of a GPA point.
