i was looking at some online resources when I fell upon this...

"When submitting your application schools will look at your GPA with the plus and minus sign (ex: A-, B+, B-, etc...). They will also look at your GPA with out the plus and minus signs which means that if you have an A- it will round up to an A or if you have a B- minus it will round up to a B."

Is this true?

Yes ! But almost all look at the letter grades with + and -

On AADSAS they actually calculate your GPA without +/-! So yes its true! For my school we dont have + and - anyway so it didn't make a difference for me but I know a lot of ppl's GPA goes up becase the - goes away 👍

Mine will go up substantially. Most of our university professors are sticklers about that while only a few don't use "+" or "-".

Dont be confused. They will look at the +/- for sure. Calculate ur GPA based on that

I'm confused by the responses so far too. It seems obvious that schools would look at both but wouldn't it make more sense that they'd go by the 'without' since it would sort of level the playing field for schools that don't offer a +/- system? 😛

Do DAT scores get sent automatically to your AASDAS application on June 3rd (when the 2014 portal goes online), even if you take the DAT earlier than that? I'm guessing yes

I mean I was under that impression. Like I said, my school doesn't even have +\- so I'm not the best person to ask but a few friends that applied with +\- also seemed to think it was overall helpful to their GPA. I think it definitely evens the playing field. Obviously
If you have a bunch of B-'s or something that's different and may be a reason for them to look into your actual grades more closely. Also a C- is not accepted so maybe that comes into play too?

"For the 2013 ADEA AADSAS application, applicants no longer self-report DAT scores in the application. ADEA AADSAS will obtain your official DAT scores directly from the American Dental Association's Testing Services Center and will import them directly into your application. ADEA AADSAS does this by using your DENTPIN. If you take the DAT after your ADEA AADSAS application has been sent to your designated dental schools, an updated application, reflecting your DAT scores will be forwarded to schools just as soon as the scores are received."

So no, you don't have to send them to AADSAS

Yup in general it takes about two weeks to process. They tend to get behind with all the scores that get sent in haha

I'm a bit confused. Wouldn't the +'s that you have be rounded down hurting your gpa? Also for a school that doesn't have plus or minuses would my gpa just stay the same?

Both GPA with and without +/- are reported on your GPA calculation so they will see both, not sure if they look at one more than the other though.
