i had an admissions committee member tell me that for gpas from certain schools they raise it up and for some they decrease the gpa. how significant of an increase is it? anybody know?

Not enough to matter much, and each school has its individual approach to this, including those that make no adjusment whatsoever.

I believe that there is a database that keeps track of how different medical school admission committees evaluate applicants' gpas. Does anyone know what this is called or where to find it? Alternatively, you can contact each individual school and and ask them how they evaluate your gpa. It's just time consuming.
