Gpa

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would say science is a wee bit more important than overall. I know it depends on the individual and it's all subjective, but an A in biochem is a tad bit harder to achieve than an A in 'intro to nutrition.' Just sayin'

With that said, a 3.8 sGPA isn't gonna help you very much if you have a 2.4 oGPA.

Depends on the school. Some schools weigh sGPA more heavily than your oGPA, and vice versa. Nonetheless, both GPAs are important. There was a document floating around here somewhere which showed how schools weighed each GPA, but it may also be found in the ADEA Guide to Dental Schools.

Well, currently, I am major in computer science. I know you guys are probably surprise but... anyway, yes, I want to go to dental school after I get BS in comp science. Right now my GPA is 3.3, I handle well in classes such as english, science, math, but I bombed hard at computer science.... Now I probably just going to hang on and finish the BS. What you guys think the good GPA in such major and DAT score if I apply to VCU (virginia commonwealth Uni). Oop, sorry for posting here, I thought I made a new thread.... Please answer if you guys can, thank, or mods can delete my post anytime and I can repost it outside. Sorry for the trouble.
Thank for listening to me.

Computer science is very much like an engineering degree (or at least it was 10 years ago when I did mine).

a 3.3 GPA isn't bad at all, especially if its coupled with science and BCP GPAs that are even higher (like the case with me and you).

By the way, I have 3.3 GPA as well.

I have heard, and this may not be true of all schools, that science GPA is looked upon heavily because it shows performance over time. This may be more of an indicator of how you might perform in dental school classes than say a Total Science DAT score that you take once for a couple hours.
