The General Practice Residency program at Jacobi Medical Center Department of Dentistry/Oral Maxillofacial Surgery (www.jacobidental.org) in the Bronx, NY has an opening for a Chief Resident/PGY-2 starting July 1, 2023. The GPR has 11 first year residents. Jacobi is a level one trauma center with programs in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, craniofacial orthodontics, public health dentistry and dental anesthesia. We currently have one Chief and are looking for a second Chief.
The Chief year provides a substantial and varied clinical experience. Chiefs will treat a wide variety of patients and provide all aspects of comprehensive dentistry including rotary endodontics, implant placement and restoration (including hybrid dentures), removable and fixed prosthodontics, perio surgery, laser treatments and simple and advanced oral surgery. Chiefs are strongly encouraged to select an area of concentration such as endodontics, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics/implant dentistry. This is an excellent opportunity before applying to a specialty program.
One of the major responsibilities for the Chief Residents will be management of the OR program for medically complex and special needs patients. The Chiefswill be responsible for booking, confirming and treating dental patients in the operating room setting for full mouth rehabilitations.
Chief residents are actively involved in management and administration of first year residents including development of monthly on-call schedule, lecture attendance, being available for chairside teaching and instruction, reviewing assignments and clarifying rotations and expectations.
Applicants will be completing a CODA approved GPR on June 30, 2022 and be prepared to attend orientation in the end of June.
For further information, please contact Dr Robert Margolin at [email protected] or 718 918 3864.
