GPR or AEGD

Can someone please explain why is GPR more popular than AEGD?
From what I understand GPR is hospital based and AEGD is more dental school based.
Are there any other differences?

AEGD are generally based in outpatient dental clinics or dental schools. At an AEGD, you won't get called in at 11PM to see ED patients with facial lacerations or abscesses, or round on hospital patients in the morning. AEGDs are generally more similar to private practice than a GPR.
Both are fine, your experience will depend more on the individual program than anything else.
