Hello!
I'm currently a first year GPR resident planning to apply for endo this summer. I'm trying to figure out what to do for the next year, and it came to my attention that some of the hospitals/schools with an endo program have second year GPR openings. Is there a big advantage for going into PGY 2 for a GPR, hoping to get a better chance of getting into their endo program?

Also, does anyone know which programs only accept people with private practice experience? I heard that Albert Einstein is one of them... is this true?

I applied last year. I have had been in private practice since graduating in 2010. Start my program in July. Programs that liked my experience where Tennessee, UMKC and OHSU. I applied to Albert E. but didn't get and interview. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply, bucktoothdental!
Which programs did you apply to and receive interviews from, if you don't mind me asking?

Would you advise that I go into private practice instead for this coming year instead of GPR PGY 2?

I had a friend that did not get in the first year she applied. She ended up completing a second year of AEGD and got into endo.
