Has anyone visited or have any information (outside of what's on their websites) about any of the following GPR/AEGD programs:

Miami Valley GPR
Cleveland VA
Dayton VA
Summa Health System GPR
University of Kentucky GPR
University of Louisville GPR
University of Cincinnati AEGD

Thanks

It isn't on your list, but I've heard good things about the GPR at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, OH. I recognize names of a lot of well-regarded specialists on the faculty list. Check it out...

Also, not much happens in Canton, OH but it isn't the worst place to live (I grew up 15 min north of downtown). You are only 20 min from Akron and an hour from Cleveland which are both a little more stimulating.

The residency at City Hospital in Akron (Summa) is a newer program. With that being said, they may still be working out some bugs but the facilities and equipment are new. I'm pretty sure you would get experience placing implants. The stipend is 45k plus tons of benefits which isn't too bad.

I plan to apply to both Summa and Mercy in about 4 years (living with parents=more money towards loan principle).

I'm a resident at Cincinnati right now. Love the program. It's a perfect for what I wanted. The clinic, staff, and attendings are great! At this program, you will extract a lot of teeth, make a lot of removable prostheses, and do lots of diagnosing, simple restorative, patient management. We place and restore implants, do our own perio surgeries, endo (rotary if you want), and rotate to OS, Pedo, and outside offices. We also rotate through the OR to treat special needs patients. There are beneficial lectures given on esthetic dentistry, TMD, ortho, etc. This is NOT an extra year of dental school. The residency runs like a group practice. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the heads up! I will definitely check it out.

DMDANB,
I appreciate the detailed reply! It most definitely helped! I'm actually from Cincinnati and ideally would like to get back there after dental school.

Hey, do you feel that your speed and confidence have increased a lot?

Hi,
I am very interested in applying for AEGD at Cincinnati for this year. Is there any position available now?
Thanks.

Does anyone have any information about the Mercy Medical Center GPR in Canton, Ohio? They have a really informative website, but I was wondering if anyone has been there or knows any past residents.
