I was already accepted to an MA in MHC program but recently decided to apply to 3 other schools for an MSW instead (I think I will have better opportunities with this degree).
All 3 schools are pretty equal as far as tuition, location, concentrations (and my interest in them), etc. Assuming I am accepted to all 3 schools, the decision will have to come down to other things like job placements and reputation.
First, how do you find information about where students are placed for their training and where they are hired after graduation? I thought about calling the schools but I was hoping to find something sooner than waiting until Monday.
Secondly, do rankings really matter? Before looking up rankings, I felt that all 3 schools had a similar reputation, but now that I see their rankings I'm not sure. According to the US News website for MSW programs: Fordham University is ranked #11, Adelphi #44, and C.W. Post (LIU) is #187. I'm not sure if this will have any impact on my education or future when trying to obtain a job.
I feel that my application is pretty strong. I don't want to get my hopes up too high, but I feel pretty confident that I will be accepted to each school. Any advice on what to look at as a deciding factor (aside from concentrations) would be helpful. I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed with making this decision!
