Grade replace (retaking course) confusion??

AMCAS counts both grades.
AACOMAS counts only the last retaken grade.

Be careful when retaking classes as part of your undergrad as it can delay graduation. If you're comfortable with that, or with taking summer courses, go for it. Also watch out because the retaken class has to be the same class for the same or greater numbers of credits.

Also, make sure you get an A the second time around!

Is AACOMAS and AMCAS equally considered, or is one higher than the other.

AMCAS is for MD schools and AACOMAS is for DO schools

Lastly, since all of them are calculated into my gpa I am assuming it is worth taking them correct?

No. Adcoms aren't stupid. They know GPA inflation when they see it. I wouldn't retake anything above a C, especially not some random writing course. I think that looks worse than getting a B in it in the first place.

Thank you, you have been very helpful. I am considering DO schools more than anything so that makes me happy to hear. Also I fully understand what you are talking about inflation. I just wanted to get all my information for next summer.

No problem. Good luck.

I might retake the C+'s but not the B's. Also, do you really need the boost in GPA? If you're at that 3.5 range (which it looks like you are) and you have time to do better in your future courses then I would just focus and make sure to knock the rest of your classes out of the park. Don't worry too much about a bad grade or two early on in school. Just don't make a habbit of getting them.

Well I was thinking of taking them next summer, not during the school year. I just think the higher the better, atleast for the C's. I am going to do a lot better this semaster, i am reviewing my bio and chem through Berkeley review books. I have all of physics and all of chem next year..... Right now I am trying to transfer into the Penn State Lecom program

I retook a few courses that I didn't do great in. I also retook one or two courses that I probably didn't need to. I retook Physics I because 1.) it was only 3 cr at my old school 2.) It had been 4 yrs since I took it. I got a B the first time, second time I got an A along with it being worth 4 cr instead of 3 cr.

Re-take what you either need to (poor grade, time since taken) or if you need a better understanding or refresher. But I would recommend self-study first before retaking a class that you just didn't "get"

Good luck!
