Hi everyone,

So I just started retaking some classes (bio, physics 1 & 2) at nearby CC (ivy tech) to improve my GPA
However, I'm not so sure if I'm taking the right bio course for replacement.

The description for biology course that I am taking at CC says:

Introductory Biology
Introduces the basic concepts of life. Includes discussion of cellular and organismal biology, genetics, evolution, ecology, and interaction among all living organisms. Addresses applications of biology in a global community. (3 credit)

And the description for biology course that I took and that I want to get it replaced is:

BIOL 12100 - Biology I: Diversity, Ecology, And Behavior

Overview of the unity and diversity of life. We attempt to construct a framework for ordering biology by studying both the shared and specialized modifications of organisms that allow them to adapt to their environment. We also apply biological principles to social, medical and environmental issues. Topics include: diversity of life, respiration, photosynthesis, mitosis/meiosis, Mendelian genetics and complications, natural selection, Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, population growth (including humans), interactions among populations (competition, predation, parasitism), behavior, and conservation biology. (2 credit)

(BIO 121 was very first bio course.. out of 4 course sequence that I took in my college)

There another bio course at same CC.. Should I take this one instead?
For me.. it seems that description really doesn't match with BIO121 that I'm trying to get grade replaced.

Biology I-Molecular & Cellular (5 credit)
Course presents an in-depth introduction to biology including the basic principles of biochemistry, concepts of cell structure, cell metabolism, and cellular respiration, processes of DNA replication and gene expression, principles of molecular and Mendelian genetics, concepts of Natural Selection in relation to evolution, and diversity of prokaryotes, protists, and green plants.

What do you guys think?

I'm bit confused on which to take.

The course that you're taking sounds like the general class that non-science majors take to fill their science elective rather than part of a two-semester course of biology. The next class you listed sounds like an upper-level course that I took (BIOL300 - Cell Biology) and also doesn't sound the same.

Yeah.. that's why I'm bit confused. CC only offers those two courses .. not sure if I should just drop it right now 🙁

The BIO I - Molecular & Cellular's description seems to match more with one of 200 level Biology courses that I took.
