My question is if anyone has had or knows anyone who's had, for any reason, grade replacement allowed for a class taken worth less units than the original course.

And I already searched this. Some posts mentioned something like this but they weren't clear.

I appreciate any replies!

The best way to get the BEST answer to your question would be..

calling AACOMAS and talk to one of their representatives. They are the ones recalculating GPA so they might have the best answer for your situation.

Their retake rule states that the new course must be the same amount of units or greater. i can't see them replacing a 5 unit class with a 4, etc. They will still count the course but I doubt they are going to replace the grade

When i applied i was able to replace several 4 credit courses with 3 credit courses. Same class different university, some schools pretty much have all 4 cr classes others have 3 cr classes, it is just the way it is structured. I didn't have to do anything special for this to happen. If you want you can contact AACOMAS or whatever the correct acronym is and ask them their current policy.

Thanks, I guess I'll have to contact them about my situation. For me, both courses were at the same school :/ but they are very similar and course descriptions are basically the same. I took the different one because I had finally decided on a major that required that particular class (3 units) rather than the other one (4 units).

I don't know that they are going to allow you to "retake" the course at the same university if its a different class. Good luck though.
