What's so wrong with a state school? I did my undergrad at a CA state school, got a 4.0, did well on my DATS, and was accepted to my top two CA schools. Your school reputation does play a role, but its not that big.

What's wrong with a state school? The vast majority of people go to state schools, and for the most part you get a dang good education. Unless you mean a community college/tech school or what not, your question doesn't make much sense. When the director of admissions at Marquette came to my school, he flat out yelled at a girl who implied that her GPA was lower because she had gone to a different school (that she considered harder than my school) for her first two years. Every director I've talked to said your grades are what matters, and your undergrad doesn't mean squat...regardless of your school, grades are grades.

eehh i wouldn't say that grades are grades, cuz grades at a well known school have more weight than from dinky college or community college. i've heard that some schools have reputations for having difficult classes and graduating students that know more about the subjects than those from other colleges. that's why they have those national evaluation exams. i had to take one at least, in the capstone course of my biology degree.

i don't know why anybody thinks state schools aren't good tho. 😕
