I went to the "FAQ sticky" and it's under construction...to see if a thread on this was posted...

Must I have a nearly perfect GPA to obtain a residency? I think I'm going to get the first C of my life this quarter in Therapeutics and I'm totally bummed. I'm unsure if I want to do a residency as I have 2 more years of schooling left, but I don't want to ruin my GPA so badly that I don't have the option. I am very much interested in public health so I may get a masters in public health instead, but I'm sure I need an awesome GPA for that too. *sigh*

IT's not the end of the world. Residencies will look at grades, but from my experience it the ability to work with the person that will determine the final outcome for most places.

Some places will grill you on your clinical knowledge during your residency interview. And one of the reason is because they want to know if you're competent to work at their facility.

Well, another reason is because they don't want to teach you and waste their time. For these type of institutions, it may not even be worth going to.

your grades will help you, but in the end, you're presentation at the interview (both personality and knowledge) is what will win you your spot.
